Wine Tasting Mimosa Wines Vineyard Bermagui
The seven acre Mimosa vineyard has been established since initial plantings
in 1999. Glenn appreciated the challenges involved with growing grapes in this
fickle maritime climate and especially selected Chambourcin, Verdelho, Tempranillo
and the ultra premium Spanish white Albarino for their compatibility with the
terroir and lifestyle of this unique area. With biodynamic practices employed
to invigorate soils and combat disease and passionate winemaking producing innovative
wine styles these selections have proven inspirational.
2005 White Chambourcin
Free flow juice from early picked grapes produces a delicate, light wine with
strawberry, citrus and lemon sorbet characters. The pallet is lifted with excellent
acidity.
2005 Verdelho
Our 2005 Verdelho displays classic varietal characters. On the nose you will
find lifted passion fruit, pineapple and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is
full weighted and has good length with a crisp and refreshing acidity.
2005 Albarino
The first vintage of this esteemed Spanish variety displays all the classic
citrus characters of lemon, grapefruit and mandarin. The palate is crisp and fresh
with excellent acidity. The definitive wine for seafood.
2002 Chambourcin
A well balanced easy drinking wine it displays a distinctive varietal deep
purple/red colour with subtle berry, plumb flavours complimented by vanilla oak.
2003 Chambourcin
Bunch thinning and restricted cropping produce a wine with generous fruit
flavours and soft tannens. Lifted characters of cherry and blackcurrent against
a subtle background of butterscotch and oak.
2005 Tempranillo
This classic Spanish red displays distinctive varietal characters of licorice,
earthiness, blackcurrent and molasses. On the palate developed characters of toast,
caramel, menthol and mint.
2005 Vintage Port
This port delivers a rich and generous balance of complex aromas, flavours
and mouthfeel. Chambourcin characters of cherry and plum are complimented by a
contribution of caramel and butterscotch provided by the fortification process.
